Signs of Infertility

—Early Detection for Early Cure

A lot of couples are dealing with different infertility issues. The problem is most people don’t know they are infertile until the moment they start trying to conceive. Knowing the signs and symptoms of infertility at an early stage can save you a lot of money and might even save you from being infertile forever.

When a woman is still not pregnant after a period of trying (one to two years of unprotected intercourse on an average of three times a week) to be pregnant means you should see a doctor right away. Every couple should have a primary care physician/regular OB-Gyne for diagnosing their fertility problem.

The most common symptom of infertility for women is an irregular menstrual cycle.  This is not always the case; it could also mean a lot of other things and not necessarily that the woman is infertile.

Weight problems are also another symptom of infertility among women; being too thin and being obese. Women who are bordering on emaciation can have difficulty conceiving because they don’t have the proper nutrients needed to support being pregnant. Women who are obese may suffer from hormonal problems affecting their reproductive system.

Overuse of substance and alcohol causes infertility. Women who regularly use illegal drugs and are alcoholics can damage them; affecting the different systems of their body. They are contenders of the inability to produce children. This is because substances and over drinking of alcohol can and may dampen the proper formation and development of fetuses.

For the men, infertility signs are usually anatomical or physical problems. For example, Undescended testicles can be a sign of infertility.  Infertility in men is usually because of an outside cause. Wearing of tight underwear or jeans may affect a guy’s ability to create possible sperm for conception. Even the exposure to very high temperature of their scrotum and gonads may lead to a guy’s infertility. We can see that the male reproductive organ is very sensitive and should be taken care of to avoid infertility. Like women, men are also prone to infertility or the inability to produce an offspring through weight problems like obesity. Men who are alcoholics and are also into substance abuse have a higher chance in being infertile. The biggest problem is if a man is not able to produce the right amount or form of sperm to be able to conceive.

Once a couple experiences difficulty in getting pregnant after a long time of trying, the couple should take the precautionary measures and follow all guidelines in conceiving before arriving to the conclusion of infertility. For example, a couple should make sure that they are having intercourse during the woman’s ovulation period. To do this, the woman can use an ovulation kit to know when it’s time for her ovulation or she can just track her basal body temperature.

Knowing the different signs of infertility may help the couple in a big way and in avoiding even bigger problems in the future.
